West Hancock Track sends five events to State

            The end of the season has come for the West Hancock boys’ track team and a select group of athletes look to make it all count.

            Running in the Top of Iowa Conference track meet in Lake Mills on May 7 and in Districts on Thursday at Nashua-Plainfield, the Eagles worked for the ultimate goal of moving onto the State meet.

            Five events proved to be successful.

            MaCoy Yeakel at long jump, Josef Smith at the 110 meter hurdles, the shuttle hurdle relay, 4x100 and 4x200 teams are made it through after Thursdays track meet.

            The Eagles first tried their hand at winning the conference championship in Lake Mills.

            The team finished in fourth with 45 team points.

            Josef Smith finished second in the 110-meter hurdle event with a time of 15.41.

            Both 4x100 and 4x200 finished in first with times of 44.71 and 1:34.15 respectively.

            The shuttle hurdle relay took second with 59.90.

            The team started its postseason by finishing fifth overall in Districts, scoring 66 points.

            Yeakel proved to be dominant at long jump finishing with a distance of 20-6.50.

            Chandler Redenius took second in shot put with a distance of 43-8.

            4x100 finished in first with a time of 44.49.

            4x200 managed second with a time of 1:33.99.

            Shuttle hurdle relay took first with 59.78.
