After a full season of heartbreak, the Eagles softball team has finally won a game.

Having gone without a win for well over a year, West Hancock showed up on June 4 to beat Eagle Grove at home 8-7.

“It was great to see them battle back,” coach Ethan Weiss said.

The team found themselves down three runs coming into the final inning of the game.

A series of hits and walks helped

Maddie Eisenman would bat in the tying run and put Sydney Hudspeth in position to score.

A throwing error on Eagle Grove’s part would give Hudspeth the chance to jet into home and win the game.

They recorded seven hits throughout the game.

“They all stayed positive, cheering each other on,” Weiss said. “It was a team game.”
