The West Hancock 7-8th grade band played with energy on Sept. 30 in the Algona Band Days parade.

The band took first place in the street marching competition.

The group played the piece “This is my Country.”

“The kids were very proud,” band director Jennifer Rosin “Probably the best I’ve ever seen them perform. Everything just locked in on Saturday.”

The band only participated in the parade competition instead of the field competition.

Rosin said that it’s great see all the hard work pay off.

The kids went through a lot of outside rehearsals and endured some yelling said Rosin.

“They have worked so hard this year,” Rosin said.

This is the first time the West Hancock middle school band has finished in first place since 2006.
