BRITT -  Throughout the season, the Class A No. 1 West Hancock football team has knocked down opponents with force.

In the big games of the season, the Eagles would seem to flip a switch turning a close game into a blowout.

Friday’s game in Britt against No. 13 IKM-Manning in the first round of the Class A playoffs was a clear example of the described phenomenon.

It’d take approximately two minutes of in-game time for the Eagles to establish their lead in a 38-14 victory.

The Eagles clung to a 16-14 lead as the second quarter winded towards its end.

West Hancock scored with an 11-yard Joe Smith run to put the Eagles up 24-14 after successful two-point conversion with 1:12 left in the half.

IKM-Manning looked to answer back again when Cayson Barnes caught the pass for an interception and hustled all the way to the end zone.

That touchdown would be negated for a penalty but gave West Hancock the ball on the IKM-Manning 37.
