“GHV Baseball loses in dogfight with Lake Mills” – Published July 18, 2018

            The Cardinals close out an up-and-down season with a standoff against Lake Mills in the Class 2A District Semifinals. The two squads faced off in Forest City and refused to let the other score after the third inning. Lake Mills edged GHV out 2-1. The Cards finished the year with a 16-9 record.

            Second Team: GHV: Jayden Hughes, Anthony Sherwood, Colton Schroeder

            Third Team: GHV: Brady Hess, Jared Shaw, Megan Oetken, Trinity Smith; West Hancock: Ryann Hagen

            Honorable Mention: GHV: Cade Bamerick, Jillian Heitland; West Hancock: Chase Eisenman, Maddie Eisenman


“GHV and West Hancock goes to war in annual rivalry” – Published Sept. 5, 2018

            GHV and West Hancock football put on a particularly memorable game this season as the two teams stalemated to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation. The teams went to overtime where Cardinal halfback Jace Prignitz put in the winning score on a 10-yard draw up the middle. West Hancock had a chance to answer but were intercepted to end the game.

“Numbers grow for West Hancock XC” – Published Sept. 5, 2018

            West Hancock’s budding program saw an increase in numbers from the year prior, being able to foster a full team for both boys and girls.
