Pumpin’ Up for Garner’s Duesey Days

GARNER – Food, fun and entertainment galore are just a few reasons Garner is “pumpin’ up” for Duesey Days. The 38th annual celebration is July 13-14. Most activities will take place in Central Park.

Friday, July 13

Stage entertainment on Friday evening will include music by Just Listen Entertainment at 4 p.m. From 5-6 p.m., the Hanson family from Kanawha will demonstrate their unicycle and juggling skills. 

Fifteen little ladies will vie for the title of Little Miss Duesey at 6 p.m. Little Miss Duesey is hosted by the Garner Wa-Tan-Ye Club. An interview with 2018 parade grand marshal Jim Jass will take place during intermission

Saturday, July 14

“Pumpin’ Up Garner” is the theme of the 2018 Duesey Days Parade. Details and entry forms are available on line at www.garneriachamber.com. Judging of parade entries will include Best Class Reunion and Best Use of Theme.

New Attractions

The Charity, Chores & More auction will begin at 1:15 p.m. Volunteers will be “auctioned” to mow lawn, rake, bake, clean, garden … whatever you need to have done….for a good cause. Proceeds from the auction will support the 5 Loaves, 2 Fish program and God’s Pantry. Registration for the charity auction are still being accepted.

Bear Creek Outdoors of Forest City will bring the game of “archery tag” to Duesey Days from 1-3 p.m. The venue will be set up on Bush Street. Remember the television game show Family Feud? Sit back and enjoy the Duesey Day version. Community Feud begins 2:30 p.m.

Standing Hampton

Des Moines based band, Standing Hampton, is set to rock downtown State Street from 8 p.m. to midnight with classic rock music of the ‘70s and ‘80s.

The public is reminded that no parking will be allowed around Central Park. Handicapped parking will be on Bush Ave. between 7th and 8th.
