Klemme to let bids on wastewater treatment facility

KLEMME – June 4 will be the date for a public hearing an bid letting for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvement Project at Klemme.

Tim Moreau, engineer with Veenstra and Kimm, presented plans and specifications for the project at the May 7 council meeting. Estimated cost is about $1.3 million.

The City has been awarded a $300,000 CDBG Grant from the IEDA and is planning to use a SRF loan for the balance less any cash reserves they have on hand. The SRF loan is administered jointly by the IDNR and the Iowa Finance Authority.

Andy Buffington, Hancock County Emergency Management Director, discussed hazard analysis and risk assessment to determine what risks the city may be subject to for each selected hazard.

Buffington said the plan is updated every five years. This information will help in the process of updating the Hancock County multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan.
