The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura cross country team hosted their annual home meet on Sept. 30 at the Garner Golf Course.

The team was also scheduled to run at Hampton-Dumont-CAL on Thursday, but the meet was cancelled due to weather.

Both boys and girls teams placed in fourth in front of the home crowd.

The boys had 101 team points and the girls finished with 83.

Abby Christians added yet another win to her season with a race time of 21:04.

“Despite the wind and the heat, our team put up a solid team effort,” coach Kaitlyn Aberson said.

For the boys, Jake Hejlik was the first Cardinal to finish.

He posted a time of 19:35.

The Cards had five runners finish in the top 30.

“We are still chasing down our goals that we set out at the beginning of the year,” coach Ryan Hinders said. “I was pleased with the team’s performance. I feel that we are in a good position to make some big moves in the upcoming weeks.”
