Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball features new coach Meriel Leavy.

Leavy, in her first year of coaching, will have the benefit of working with a group that consists of six juniors and six seniors.

With a team that’s already familiar with varsity playing time, the GHV girls has built up chemistry over the seasons.

“It’s a good rapport that they have between each other,” Leavy said. “I don’t see any reason why we don’t do better than we did last year.”

The team won seven games last season.

To surpass that number, the Cards have focused on building confidence.

Leavy notes the team has shown great ability in their hits as well as moving into position to cover the ball and setting up plays out of those passes.
