GHV students selected for All-State Music Festival

Three from Garner-Hayfield-Ventura were selected for participation in the 2019 All-State Music Festival: Eric Heitland will play in the All-State Orchestra, Patrick Carew and Caleb Renner were selected for the All-State Chorus.

GARNER – Three Garner-Hayfield-Ventura music students have attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa High School musicians by being selected for the 73th Annual All-State Music Festival, Nov. 22-23 in Ames.

Eric Heitland will play the French horn in the All-State Orchestra. Eric, a junior, is the son of Jason and Stacie Heitland. This is the third year he will perform with the All-State Orchestra.

GHV seniors Patrick Carew and Caleb Renner will sing in the All-State Chorus. The son of Steve and Kristi Carew, this is Patrick’s second year as a member of the All-State Chorus. Caleb Renner is the son of Brent and Nikki Renner. This is his first year as a member of the All-State Chorus.

District auditions for the 279-piece All-State Band, 227-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, Oct. 26. Approximately 17 percent of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensembles.
