GHV girls track gets in the first meet of the year

            Garner-Hayfield-Ventura started its season with a meet at rival West Hancock in Britt on April 1.

            The team was supposed to run at Eagle Grove as well on Thursday, but the meet was cancelled.

            The Cardinals placed fifth out of six teams competing; they secured 76 points.

            The team had its share of exciting moments in the first meet.

            Including a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash for freshman Kylie Anderson.

            The Cardinal ran a time of 29.16

            Madeline Hinz also secured a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 16.31.

            Mara Anderson followed behind in second with a 17.03 finish.

            Hinz also took second place in long jumps recording a distance of 13-3.

            Rachel Hejlik secured third in the shot put with a throw of 32-9.5.
