It’s been a frustrating season to date for GHV girls’ soccer coach Hannah DeVries. The combination of losing practice time to both snowstorms and thunderstorms along with difficulties in finding the goal during competition is presenting a challenge to the Cardinal girls. With the season rapidly winding down, the Cards are hoping to get things turned around before tournament play.

GHV dropped a 5 – 0 decision at Mason City on April 30. The Mohawks’ combination of aggressive offensive play and strong defense led to the shutout. Payton Echelberger was credited with three shots and one shot-on-goal to lead GHV offensively. Hannah Whelan added two shots-on-goal while Jackie Van Oort had a shot. Morgan Westendorf recorded seven saves during the course of the match.
