GHV cross country runs at Eagle Grove

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura cross country teams ran at Eagle Grove on Oct. 8.

The Cardinals come off of an unexpected break due to a meet cancellation the week prior, making eight days between their home meet on Sept. 30 to the Eagle Grove meet.

The boys finished with 217 team points for seventh place of ten competing teams.

The girls placed in ninth place with 213.

Abby Chirstians placed in second in a tough race, finishing with 20:31.62.

Six cardinal girls recorded personal records on the day.

“Although windy and a quite hilly course, the girls watched a lot of their times go down,” coach Kaitlyn Aberson said.

For the boys, Jake Hejlik finished first for the Cardinals in 17th place.

He ran a time of 18:24.

“Eagle Grove is a fun course to run,” coach Ryan Hinders said. “It is challenging and always has quality competition. It is a good test for us and allows us to see where we are stacking up and what changes we need to make heading into the final weeks.”
