GHV Choir heads for the “Big Apple"

GARNER – Broadway, here they come! Vocal music students at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura are ready to take a bite out of the “Big Apple” next week! During GHVs spring break, the combined concert choir and mixed chorus will be on a music tour of New York City.

The choir will perform music that they have been working on for the state large group music contest next May.

Selections include “Be thou my Vision,” “Pater Noster,” “Warrior,” “The Word was God,” “It is well with my Soul,” “Flanders Fields,” and other pieces.

The tour is organized by Good News Tour and Travel.

“The kids are very excited to travel,” said Jason Heitland, GHV choir director.

The itinerary includes Rockefeller Center and the set of the Today Show on Sunday.

On Monday, choir will attend a Broadway classroom where they will learn about producing a show with cast members from Phantom of the Opera.
