Economic development report shared with supervisors

GARNER – Jill Kramer, Hancock County Economic Development Corp. (HCED) director, shared highlights of 2018 and plans for 2019 with Hancock County Supervisors on Jan. 28. Kramer thanked the board for their support.

“We really have good fortune to have such good partners - not only you guys, but the community and our business leaders. That’s what makes us a stronger force than a lot of economic developments because of the partnerships.”

“2018 started out strong,” she said. “We had some great momentum going through the year.”

Kramer represented Iowa at an international trade show in Atlanta.

In April, Debi Durham, Iowa Economic Development Authority director, toured six businesses and was the guest speaker at the HCED annual meeting.

“That was one of our strongest turnouts yet,” she remarked.

High school juniors and seniors from Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, West Hancock, Belmond-Klemme and Forest City attended a career fair at GHV in April. Fifty-two businesses were represented at the event.

The next career fair for area students will be 2020 at Forest City.
