West Hancock looks to find their spark on defense.

With an 83-59 victory over Belmond-Klemme at home on Jan. 1. and a crushing 71-95 loss to Bishop-Garrigan on the road, coach Brian Peterson still sees a piece missing from his team coming out of break.

“We really took a step back defensively,” Peterson said.

Peterson’s team, like many of the past, play well offensively. Peterson calls the offense second to none.

“We’re not good enough to outscore teams,” Peterson put it bluntly.

Defense has been one of the struggles of the team that has now landed squarely on 5-5 for the season.

One word comes to mind when Peterson talks about improving Defense.

            Pride.

“The kids have to take pride,” Peterson said.  "It’s a mentality."
