City Council looks over offers for Sunset Ridge Properties

The city of Britt may be welcoming new property owners in the near future.

Mayor Ryan Arndorfer came forth to the council at a regularly held meeting on May 7 to inform of offers to build on the Sunset Ridge properties located in the Northwest of the town; absent were councilmen Dwight Leerar and Paul Verbrugge

In November, the city started to offer lots for free to buyers as incentive to build and ultimately take the burden of the land taxes off the city while bringing in more another source for property tax.

One is ready to move forward immediately.

The people want to build a house on two lots.

The council was requested to pay half of the paperwork costs, which they denied.

“We’re giving away the lot, why don’t they do the paper work?” councilman Curt Gast said.

The council motioned to accept the offer for lots 3 and 4 but with no additional funding.

The second offer discussed was for the building of a house and a garage with geo-thermal heating on two lots.
