GHV's Madeline Hinz qualifies for State, 2nd in 100m Hurdles.

GHV track coach Dyan Childress saw her girls’ track team compete in two of the biggest relay events of the season last week. On Monday the Cardinals traveled to Lake Mills for the TIC West Relays followed by Thursday’s Class 2A District Meet at Osage. It was a productive week for GHV hurdlers as Madeline Hinz earned a trip to the State Meet in the 100-meter hurdles. Hinz also joined Mara Anderson, Rachel Hejlik and Jillian Heitland on the state-qualifying shuttle hurdle relay team.

GHV had a good night at Lake Mills on Monday. The Cardinals scored 61 points and placed third overall in the nine-team event. Abby Christians earned GHV’s lone individual title with her performance in the 3000-meter run. The shuttle hurdle foursome also brought home gold medals from Lake Mills.

Other top efforts from Lake Mills included Hinz in the 100-meter hurdles and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Hejlik, Hinz, Leah Meinders and Jayden Hughes. Both of those events earned second place medals. In addition, Hughes finished third in the 200-meter dash.
