The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura track and field team didn’t have to travel running at home twice on Apr. 29 and Thursday, the latter being the Top of Iowa West conference meet.

The team finished in seventh both days with 40 team points for the Don Hoppel Co-ed Relays on Apr. 29 and 38 points on Thursday.

The Cardinals shuttle-hurdle relay set the week on fire, winning the event on both nights and posting records for both.

They ended up securing a school record with the first race on Apr. 29.

The team, consisting of Mara Anderson, Lorelei Cash, Kylie Anderson and Madeline HInz, finished with a time of 1:09.38 and 1:09.98.

“I couldn't be more excited for these girls!” coach Dyan Childress said.
