The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls basketball came back from Winter break and played back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the girls traveled to play against North Union and lost 37-53.

Saturday was the Cards return to home as they hosted Algona and were defeated 63-71.

Coach Matt Frank said the team’s game plan against North Union was to slow down one of the top scorers in the state in Chloe Lofstrom.

The Cardinals held the Warriors down to six points, with Lofstrom not scoring that quarter with great efforts from Nicole Upmeyer and Mara Anderson.

GHV was only down three points at half.

“Our players executed the game plan and played extremely hard,” he said. “We just had too many shots go in and out to keep pace.”
