Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls basketball faced off against two formidable opponents this week.

On Thursday, the team hosted Clear Lake falling to them 63-40.

Friday, GHV lost to North Union at home 37-40.

The Cardinals kept it close with Clear Lake in the first three quarters of the game.

“We didn’t back down to them,” coach Matt Frank said. “We did enough to hang with them, but five days off due to weather did us in.”

The team had turned the ball over too many times and showed rust from being unable to practice.

Stamina issues did them in against the Lions.
