With two big track meets on the schedule last week, the GHV boys were looking to tune up and qualify for the Class 2A State Track Meet. Monday’s TIC West Relays at Lake Mills provided a great opportunity to prepare for the Class 2A District Meet at Osage on Thursday.

The competition proved to be very tough at Monday’s TIC Relays. Forest City won the team title with 141 points followed by Lake Mills with 132. GHV finished the night in sixth place with 29 points.

The distance medley relay team of Devion Moore, Luke Brown, Ray Cataldo and Reece Smith was the only GHV event to score first place points. Ray Cataldo and Reece Smith provided their usual excitement in distance events with Ray placing second in the 800-meter run and Reece earning the silver medal in the 1600-meter race. Typically Smith would also be expected to score in the 3200-meter run but the Cardinal standout didn’t compete in that event with the state-qualifying race just a couple of days in the future.
