The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys soccer team hosted Iowa Falls-Alden-AGWSR on April 8 for the only game of the week.

The team put up a good effort against a talented opponent, but in the end they couldn’t quite keep the pace, losing 4-2.

The Cards found themselves down by two several times in the game, but managed to cut the deficit down to one twice.

“We faced a talented team that could defend well and control the ball, but in the first half we worked ourselves out of trouble and put a few shots on goal,” co-coaches Joe Albertson and Josh Banse said in a written statement. “In the second half, we allowed a few players to get loose and got behind.”
