GHV coach Ken Krause’s golf team has been playing very well in recent outings and the Cards recorded their biggest achievement of the season last week. The Cardinals were able to upset TIC favorite Bishop Garrigan on the way to a conference title. The season then came to an abrupt halt on Friday when the Cards battled some tough teams and Mother Nature in Friday’s Class 2A Sectional Tournament.

TIC West Division teams traveled to Britt on Monday for their conference tournament. The weather was realistically the best of the season to date and the Cards took full advantage of the playing conditions. GHV found themselves clinging to a three-shot lead after the front nine and then widened the gap on the back nine for the win. The Cardinals finished the day with a team total of 324, eight strokes better than the Golden Bears’ 332. Forest City was a distant third at 344 while Lake Mills was fourth with a 346.
